How do you describe what you do?

I’m a freelance fashion and beauty writer covering everything from news and trends to shopping. I write for Byrdie, All the Pretty Birds, HuffPost and more.

What’s your favourite thing about what you do?

It’s hard to choose but I love that I get to write about things I really enjoy.

Is there a career/personal accomplishment you’re proud of?

Definitely going to NYFW and covering beauty backstage. It’s been a goal of mine since I was a teenager collecting magazines and reading (RIP) and I went for the first time for the Spring/Summer 2020 shows and again to cover shows in February. It was just so exciting.

If you had the chance to do anything over again in your career, is there anything you would do differently?

I’d go into things with more confidence, it took me a while to get to the point where I am now in terms of confidence. Overall though, I think that I’m exactly where I’m supposed to be right now and I’m happy here.

What’s an adventure you’re excited to take?

Traveling as soon as I can, safely of course. Over these past few months I’ve just been making lists of places I want to visit and revisit.

What’s the first thing you do in the morning?

Check my phone and drink a cup of coffee.

Is there a book that’s changed your life?

I love Toni Morrison, she was just a phenomenal writer and storyteller and The Bluest Eye was my introduction into her work.

A few essays I love and always revisit are Joan Didion’s On Keeping A Notebook and Zadie Smith’s Find Your Beach.

Is there a cause you’re passionate about?

Black Lives Matter and working with and promoting black creatives/brands/talent.

Do you have a piece of jewelry that’s sentimental to you?

My grandmother’s jewelry box, she loved costume jewelry and wore pins with every outfit so there are a lot of colorful and interesting pins.

Jewelry Lightning Round:

Silver or Gold? Gold

Chunky or Dainty? Dainty

Chain necklace or pendant necklace? Pendant

Huggies or oversized hoops? Hoops

Signet ring or stacking ring? Both!
